	dcterms:description	A letter from Charles Dickens to illustrator and friend Clarkson Stanfield, addressed to "My dear Stanny" on the 21st November 1845. The insert at the start of the book states that this and the final letter “refer to the drawings by Stanfield for >>The Cricket on the Hearth<<.” This explains Dickens’ reference to sending illustrations to Bradbury’s so that they can be copied onto blocks. <br><br> The letter is handwritten with ink on thin paper with visible chain lines. The paper is folded in half with the content of the letter written on folio 1r. It was then folded into thirds with “Clarkson Satnfield [illegible]” and Dickens’ signature written in the middle third on folio 2v. There are two pencil marks at the top of folio 1r. Folio 1v and 2r are blank excepting bleed through from the ink on f1r and f2v and a few stains and creases. The discolouration and folds on f2v indicates that this was the outside of the letter when folded, with the middle and bottom third facing out and the top third folded in.
