The pamphlet is a record of a dinner organised by Robert Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Earl of Lytton, in honour of Charles Dickens. It was printed as a token of friendship and support for the writer before his second journey to the United States. The pamphlet also contains a list of names of the stewards of the dinner.
